Applications and Information about the IMEA Electric Vehicle Charging Station & Electric Vehicle Program

Each fiscal year (May 1 - April 30), IMEA budgets $250,000 that IMEA Member municipalities can use to:

1.  Establish a locally managed EV Charging Station Program so that municipalities can provide incentives to retail customers that install qualified EV charging stations; and/or
2.  Incentivize up to 80% of the cost of purchasing or leasing for the municipality a level 2 or level 3 EV charging station; and/or
3.  Incentivize up to 80% of the cost of purchasing or leasing for the municipality an Electric Vehicle (dual fuel vehicles do not qualify); and/or
4.  Transfer funds for the city to use in the IMEA Electric Efficiency Program.

The $250,000 is allocated to each city proportionate to its wholesale electric load share purchased from IMEA.

IMEA Member Municipal Municipalities Use the Following Applications to Access and Use their Funds:

NOTE: Only IMEA Member Municipalities or their Electric Departments may apply for the following incentives.

1. A Municipally Managed EV Charging Station Incentive Program for Retail Customers
This start-up kit is designed to help those IMEA Member municipalities that wish to participate set up their own locally managed EV Charging Station program. Completing this start-up kit and sending it to IMEA signals the municipality’s intent to participate in IMEA’s EV Charging Station & EV Program by setting up and administering a program for their residents and commercial/industrial customers in FY2022-23. Incentives to the municipality’s retail customer are $500 per qualified EV charging station. The municipality pays the inventive to the retail customer and IMEA reimburses the municipality, up to the amount the municipality has set aside to use for this program (via this application/starter kit).
2. Incentive Application for a Municipally Owned or Leased Level 2 EV or Level 3 Charging Station
IMEA Members may receive up to 80% of the purchase cost or annual lease cost of an EV charging station. Incentives are limited to no more than $20,000 per station per year, limited to the current amount of funding available to the IMEA Member municipality. Contact the program administrator if you have questions concerning your available funding.

Municipalities that will require an incentive for the purchase or lease should contact the program administrator prior to signing a purchase or lease contract to assure their purchase or lease will qualify for an incentive under this program.
3. Incentive Application for a Municipally Owned or Leased EV
IMEA Members may receive up to 80% of the purchase cost or annual lease cost of an EV. Incentives are limited to no more than $20,000 per EV per year, limited to the current amount of funding available to the IMEA Member municipality. Contact the program administrator if you have questions concerning your available funding.

Municipalities that will require an incentive for the purchase or lease should contact the program administrator prior to signing a purchase or lease contract to assure their purchase or lease will qualify for an incentive under this program.
